Lata Belantan is easy to find. On the way to Jertih from Setiu, about 20 kilometers from Jertih, a huge signboard along Federal Route 3 will show a turning to the left into the Park! Then a 5 kilometers paved road leads traveler straight almost, [ but no direction signs at a couple of junctions ] after following the beaten trail. Before entering the junction from the Federal Route, I would suggest you to stop at 'Sate Lanang', a very popular sate restaurant among local visitors. You may eat the sate there, or take them away and enjoy it at the Park or any time thereafter when you are hungry. The price of sate is reasonable.

The Lata Belantan Recreational Park is a normal outdoor area with a stream flowing through. During my visit, the so-called waterfall in the Park was reduced to a trickle. Most of the water for the stream had sipped through crevices behind the waterfall and by -passed the regular "Fall" route. The Park is also well equipped with cafeteria and office.

The waterfall that everyone is seeking for is actually there in full force during wet season. When I arrived there, the higher stage of the Fall is almost dry because the water had sipped through crevices underneath the rock. Surely it was no fun being there. But, jungle trekking is good because the Park is part of the Tropical Rain Forest which were renowned rich with its flora and fauna.

But then, some lower part of the Fall is good for young ones and those are not good in swimming because the water is shallow. Still have some fun when you are joining youngsters playing volleyball. The Park is a bit crowded during weekends as local visitors arrived for picnicking and for recreational activities. There are some choices or alternative locations for you if you want some privacy. If you go upper and upper you will find some falls where you can swim, but remember that the rock is slippery and very dangerous. One silly mistake might be ended with regrets.
