Redang Island Marine Park - Part 3

Redang Island Marine Park - Pulau Lima

Pulau Lima/Five Island

This island is included in the Redang group of islands located east to the main island and also gazetted as National Marine Park. The islands of Pulau Lima are uninhabited and no development of structure is allowed so as to preserve the nature. The government have learned that massive developments on the main island for the construction of resorts, hotels, jetties, airport, piping system for fresh water supply from main land and other big projects have destroyed and/or affected the marine life and underwater living around the Redang group of islands. So, some marine parks around the main island are well preserved and protected from human development activities, with the hope to retrieve what ever lost and detriment suffered by the main island. Hence, Pulau Lima is a secured area for the nature, its marine life and the undersea inhabitants.

Once step in onto the beach of this Island, I felt I do not want to go home. I wanted to stay there permanently,( though I knew that was impossible for me to do so because there was no fresh water resources available on the island). The small bushes on top of the island provided me a useful shelter from the direct afternoon sun shine.

small forest on top of the island.

As one of the gazetted marine park, Pulau Lima has similar attractions with other islands in the Redang group of islands in terms of under sea life and preservation. Corals, anemones and other underwater inhabitants here are spectacular.

Therefore the heaven of scuba divers is here, in this Marine Park of Pulau Lima.
